Students Participation in National Student Management Game ‘Chanakaya’ – Business Simulation Game
The students of Faculty of Commerce and Management, SGT University participated in 21st National Management Game Competition “CHANAKYA” organised by All India Management Association (AIMA) under the guidance of Dr. Sunil Verma, Assistant Professor. The preliminary round was held on 14th- 15th November, 2017 at Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara (Gujarat). There were many universities and institutes like IBS, ICFAI University, MS University, NIRMA University, Parul University, ITM University etc. participated in this event other then SGT University.
It was a massive multiplayer business simulation game where each team set their own strategy to conquer a vast, changing economy. The winning criteria was generating highest cumulative profit after tax in 5 Quarters, the team which earns highest CPAT will be winner.
All 24 teams were divided into 2 groups (Group A and B) which consisted of 12 teams each. Out of three, two teams from SGT were in Group A and one team was in Group B. SGT University stood 1st in both the groups. After summarizing overall result of the competition, Top 3 teams of the competition earned 88 lakh CPAT, 84 lakh CPAT, 79 lakhs CPAT respectively in overall five quarters in which SGT university was ranked 1st and 3rd among 24 teams. Rank 1 (Himanshu Yadav, Sunandan Khajuria (MBA 3rd sem), Rajat Kumar, Yatin Sachdeva (BBA 3rd sem). Rank 3 (Gajanand Sharma (MBA 3rd sem), Rahul Malik (MBA 3rd sem),Sagar Malik (BBA 5th sem), Saif Khan (B.Com 5th sem).
After the result, for leisure time of one day, IIM Ahmadabad campus visit was being requested by Dr. Sunil Verma to Prof. Dr. M.S. Turan, Dean, FCM and he managed it promptly on 16th Nov., 2017 with his rich network. Students got the insights of the working at IIM, Ahmadabad.
After the visit, the students reached ALLANA Institute of Management Studies, Pune on 17th November, 2017 for Western Regional finale .Two teams were representing SGT UNIVERSITY and there were also 8 other teams. After 5 quarters, the result was announced. Three teams were selected for National Finale according to maximum CPAT.
One team from SGT University got 2nd position in top 3 teams in western regional finale and got selected for national finale which was held on 30th of November 2017 in Coimbatore. Four quarters were conducted for national finale. SGT university team stood 5th in the competition and was honored by the sponsors and dignitaries of AIMA. This was really a great opportunity for SGTians to represent the university at national level also they learned how to make a balance between demand & supply, market analysis of demand, budgeting and investment decisions.
